Visiting the theater district

Our scout troop will be going to New York to see a show on Broadway. Are there any good attractions or resturants within a short distance that are native to New York? We'll have about three hours to spend.

John's Pizzeria, 260 W. 44th St. (bet. B'way & 8th Ave.). One of the best pizza restaurants around.

It's great that your troop is going to a show - what a nice opportunity! What show are you going to see? There are many things to do in this area, and I'm sure there will be a lot of posts regarding your question, but one suggestion is Rockefeller Center. NBC is part of the complex and if your schedule and budget allow, it might be fun to take the NBC Studio Tour. Be sure to inquire about group rates. Here is the internet address if you want to check it out:http://nbc-television-studio-tour.vi...-york-city.com . Have a wonderful trip!

We LOVE Mme Tussaud's wax museum at 42nd/7th. A bit pricey, but maybe they have group/student rates (check the website). And the new ToysRUs across the intersection has to be visited to be believed.

Here's a follow up to Donna's suggestion. The website for the Wax Museum is http://www.madame-tussauds.com They do have group rates and special deals for groups who book in advance, which should help cut down on the cost. The info number was listed as: 1-800-246-8872

Don't know the ages you're talking about, but if you want to stay indoors, you can make a reservation for a group at Sony Wonder, which is a FREE
interactive exhibit center, sort or like the Innovations pavillion at EPCOT.
It's on 56th street, between 5th avenue and Madison, about a 15 minute walk from parts of the theater district.

Hey - I forgot about Sony - great idea Jan! We've been there and it's a lot of fun & very interesting. Also it's not too far from FAO Schwarz Toy store - hint: if there is a line to get in at the 5th avenue door, go around to the back at Madison Ave. and walk right in.
