Villa Rentals through "Summer in Italy"

Interested in chatting with people who have rented a villa or apartment in Italy through the company "Summers in Italy".... how are they to work with, any issues booking, no scams.... we have heard some war stories from people who book on line with other companies and just want to be "safe" before we book a villa.

thanks

Try the Italy forum. Not sure why you tagged this Massachusetts. Do you live there?

You'll find plenty of people on the Europe board who have booked through Summer in Italy. I've used them twice--four years ago in Positano and last summer in Tuscany--and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again (and I may, as we are considering returning to the same property in Tuscany again next summer).

It's a few years since I used them to book an apartment on the Cilento coast. They were fine to deal with, no problem with payment, good value, great apartment and good driving instructions to get there. I'd have no problem using them again.

I used summer in italy to book a villa in Positano in Sept 2007 and they were fantastic. Very quick to respond, you can reserve and pay using a credit card online and they give you the vouchers right away once the balance is paid. We had no issues and I would recommend them.

You could also try asking at www.slowtrav.com but I believe they are a reputable company to work with.

Thanks all.. .this is my first time using this. I thought the tagged line was to show my location (MA) not my destination (Italy)... We are planning a trip to Tuscany 1 week and 1 week Amalfi in Fall 2010.

ms_go - what unit in Tuscany did you rent? We found something in Montepulciano through another rental company but open to other suggestions for 4 adults.

thanks
susan

We rented Villa Vesta, which is near Montaione--but we had a larger group (8, including younger kids). For Tuscany, I'd decide on the area first and then pick a villa. Our interests were roughly in the triangle from Siena to Pisa to Florence, so that location was great for us. If you're more interested in southern Tuscany, it wouldn't work as well. If I recall, Summer in Italy did have some options further south.

They are the best, but you really want to look at reviews of rental places at slowtrav.com
I agree with Ms. Go thta you may want further south in Tuscany and to pick location first and then the property.
