Vermont, NH Maple Sugaring
We live in Hawaii and are planning a spring trip. Please suggest sugar houses to visit during open house in March. Do you recommend us flying into Vermont or New Hampshire? Is Maine worth a visit?

How long do you have for the trip? Sure Maine is worth a visit, if you just go into the southern tip on the coast it's not all that far. VT/NH are not that large of states (east/west-wise).
Vermont is the most beautiful to my eye (less industrial areas and no billboards allowed on the highways). But all three are gorgeous places. March (as I'm sure you know) will still be very cold and all states will be either at the tail end of winter or into their infamous "mud season"... but for sugaring that's when you need to go!

We are planning on a week. Fly into BVT or MHT, take in the sugar houses, Dartmouth, Vermont Country Store, Shelburne, King Arthur Flour,.....anything else????.....and then make our way down to Providence, RI, and fly home from there.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, especially which sugar houses to visit!

I see you got good suggestions on your other thread.
Sorry I don't know about sugaring places to visit (I lived in VT/NH) but didn't really do any tourist things at the time. The sugaring we did was our own -haha!

here's a link to information about sugaring in Vt. There is a sugaring open house weekend in late March. A few of the places that do sugaring also have B&Bs which might be interesting

If you are in Vt in early March, a traditional small town town meeting held on March 3 could be fun to see--democracy in action.
Other posters are not kidding about mud season--beware the dirt roads
