I was hoping to get your opinions on the two properties. I'll be in Vegas in a few weeks, for two nights, and haven't decided where to stay. I have stayed at the Bellagio in the past, and wanted to try something different.

Right now, I'm looking at a suite in the new Venezia tower at the Venetian, or a "suite" at the F.S.

I'm looking for comfort and to have a good time.

I assume price is not part of the comparison, because you'll almost certainly pay a lot more for the suite at the FS. FS has no gaming revenues to balance off the room rates like most hotels in LV, so rates there aren't usually competitive.
That said, a true suite at the FS is much nicer than a standard room at Venetian. I call them standard rooms because the 'suites' are just long rectangular rooms with a slight step-down, not true suites (2 separate rooms).
Also, the rooms in the Venezia tower are almost identical to the standard rooms in the original Venetian, except for the TV's and a subtle difference in dimensions. There is separate check-in and a separate pool also.
If you're simply comparing room quality, nothing else, the Four Seasons suite is nicer.
Venetian's location is better.

The Venetian is a lot more fun than the Four Seasons, and I think the Venezia tower is just beautiful! (In an over the top Las Vegasey way, that is!)
T&L's gold list gives top marks to the rooms at the Venetian (over Bellagio rooms and Four Seasons rooms).

On the other hand, Conde Nast's 2004 Gold List rates Bellagio (overall score) much higher than either Venetian or Four Seasons.
The Travel and Leisure 2004 World's Best list has the LV Four Seasons listed as the 30th best hotel in the world, Bellagio 59th and Venetian 96th.

Venetian doesn't tend to get as much respect from mainstream travel resources because of its cheesiness factor (my opinion), while Bellagio and Four Seasons would actually succeed without difficulty in cities other than Las Vegas.

I've stayed at both and I'd recommend the Venetian over the Four Seasons. The Venetian has better restaurants, shopping and is walking distance to many other casinos where you might like to see a show or explore. The Four Seasons is at the end of the strip and you'll need a taxi to get to most places. The private pool at the Four Seasons is better than the pool at the Venezia. The Mandalay's large pool area (available to Four Seasons guests) is superior to the Venetian's large pool area. Breakfast at the Verandah at the Four Seasons is better than the breakfast at Bouchon at the Venezia but the pool and breakfast are just two factors. Overall, I think the Venetian is more luxurious and fun.

Venetian may have more restaurants but Mandalay Bay has some very good choices also including Aureole, Shanghai Lilly, and one of my favorites - 3950.

I stayed in the Venezia Tower shortly after it opened and the rooms are very similar to other rooms at the Venetian. The only differences are that everything is newer and just a little fancier. It is a process to get from the Venezia Tower to the casino (long walk, two sets of elevators) but is very convenient to the front entrance (meaning a pain if you plan on going back and forth from the casino a lot but good if you plan on going out to the strip). As stated in a previous post, Venezia has its own pool area. It's pretty small (by Vegas standards) but very nicely landscaped and relaxing.

Is this your first time in Vegas? If you plan on walking the strip a lot, Venetian's location is somewhat better than Four Seasons.

Hi Antepali. Right now the venetian is booking its rooms in the original tower for about 180.00. the FS is booking it's rooms for about 300.00. I don't believe the FS rooms are 120.00 better than the venetian rooms. the standard V room is big and comfortable. The FS room is big and fancy and wonderful also. The FS is a bit off the beaten track, and the venetian resort, (although a bit cheesey) is fun, and in the middle of everything.

I was just at the venetian and the bellagio last weekend. the venetian wins hands down nicer people, suites are better, restaurants are better, slots pay better, just a better hotel, period! FPK

To Frank: are you comparing Venetian and Four Seasons or Venetian/Bellagio?
If you're comparing Bellagio's restaurants and suites to Venetian's I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that Venetian is better 'hands down'. How many of Bellagio's restaurants have you sampled? Have you stayed in a suite at Bellagio?
I'm not suggesting no one will like Venetian better since everyone has different tastes, I'm just wondering what info you're actually using to compare.

Stayed recently at Mandalay Bay (THEhotel). Not the Four Seasons, but same location. Venetian is a not just slightly better, but a lot better in the location department.

I'd say that it depends on what you're planning to do. If you want a relaxing time in very nice surroundings, by all means go to the FS. I'd say that the FS is classic luxury as oppossed to The Venetian's Vegas luxury. It is much more relaxed, service is much better and personal, and if you're bored, you can always go to the Mandalay Bay next door.

Now, if you want to have a fun couple of days, stay at the Venetian. For starters, it has a casino. Location is much better, too.

Just returned from the FS. Stayed in the Venezia tower last sept.

If you're concerned about location and walk-ability, the Venetian has the better location.

The FS staff was excellent (concierge in particular), our strip view room had an outstanding view and we were very happy with the experience. The pool was quite nice, albeit a bit crowded with the long weekend. More shade available than the Venetian pool, which would require a cabana rental. The casino at MB was literally right outside the FS elevator bank -- about a 20 second walk -- not a determining factor in our book.

Overall, I think the difference comes down to 2 things: location and ambiance. We definitely got a much "calmer" more relaxing vibe at the FS than we did at the Venetian. I'd attribute it to both the FS philosophy as well as the fact that by Vegas standards, it's a pretty small hotel....

Venetian is MUCH better location-wise, you will really feel detached from everything at FS. (Unless that's what you want.) ALSO, as far as restaurants go, Lutece at the Venetian is excellent.

We've never stayed at the FS, but we just booked a room at the Venetian for $129 on their website. The last time we stayed at The Venetian, we stayed in the Venezia tower and didn't find much difference between these newer suites and the original ones. We didn't care for the amount of walking we had to do from the casino to the suite, so that's why we're staying in an original suite. The Venetian's location, shops and restaurants appeal to us.

travlies- we felt that we were treated much better at the venetian,as opposed to the bellagio. we are not "bumkins" by any sense of the word but found the bellagio a little too impressed on "bling". as i posted before, we found the people at the venetian to be nicer. The standard rooms at the bellagio (allthough nice) don't compare to the all suite concept at the venetian. we ate at the italian restaurant (chiarco?) and was not impressed. quite possibly the bellagio caters more to the "high rollers" The "cheesiness" factor you referred to we understood as inclusivity.
