Venetian or Bellagio ? (Vegas)

I am making my first trip to Las Vegas, and have been dying to stay at the Venetian since watching all the hoopla on TV when it opened. However, many of the posts I've read here seem to prefer the Bellagio. Why? Could those with first hand experience at either or both please explain? It seems that the rooms are so much nicer at the Venetian, it would be preferable to stay there, but hang out at Bellagio (casino, restaurant, shopping) for a day. What about convenience of location? Views? Pools? Spas? Any specific feedback would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!

A thousand posts on this very topic are waiting for you in the text archives. Check 'em out.

Venetian's rooms are bigger.
Vebetian's downfall is that it lacks class, style, charisma compared to Bellagio.
The rooms are indeed very nice.
The rest of the experience left me feeling slighted compared to Bellagio.
But standard rooms at Bellagio aren't as nice as Venetian's.
Just visiting Bellagio, though, is not at all the same as staying there and being a part of the place.
Pools, restaurants, casino, room service (!) are all far better at Bellagio.
