Vegas upscale 30+ crowd hangouts

Does anyone know where to go that is primarly for the 30+ crowds? We're not looking to pretend that we are 20 again!

30+ do you mean 30's or 40-50 age group? Mandaly Bay has pretty much switched over to a 40+ crowd. You are fine anywhere really, we saw an 80+ elderly woman hanging out at LAX at midnight a few weeks ago!

Yes, the Wynn for sure, all age groups, but be prepared to spend $$$ if you want to overindulge. Bliss is good but in your 30's you will still feel comfortable mostly anywhere except Pure at Caesar's. They play a lot of music from the 80's at all the nightclubs-Jet, Tryst, Tao, Bliss.

Believe me, no one is looking or cares, you will see a lot more crazy than anyone to check how old you are/look All age groups are represented. Hope this helps.

I dunno - Mandalay Bay still looks like the 30+ crowd to me - maybe it depends on when you go?

My take is that the OP wanted to avoid the 20's crowd, but without getting too old, and stay upscale. So, avoid the Palms or Hard Rock. Caesars is upscale, but too old. Mirage is upscale, but lots of families. I think the rest of the strip hotels are mid to lower level, relatively speaking - not counting boutique hotels within hotels - e.g. Signature or Skylofts at MGM.

If you didn't mind going off strip, then Green Valley Ranch might be a good choice, but I don't have much experience there.

Stay away from Hard Rock, Hooters & Palms. I favor Mandalay Bay & I'm over 40 (but I might be a Sr. citizen to you) lol. I like Paris as well.

Tee hee, giggyice, stick with the Wynn, Venetian/Palazzo and the Mirage and their night clubs. Sorry but the MB would be on my list of avoids at this point, especially in the summer. Families take their kids to the pool and the crowd in my experience has completely changed in the last few years as a local resident. When I've been there the crowd is more 50+, not that there's anything wrong with that! The bar at the Red Square is still good to enjoy the decor but the crowd has completely changed.

As others pointed out avoid the Palms and Hard Rock they both get a seedy/stripper/have been around the block crowd.

I don't know of anyone that goes to the Voodoo lounge anymore regretfully...

If you are into people watching & nightclubs it is:

Monday - Jet @ the Mirage -also has surprise celeb spottings & drinks are much, much cheaper than all other nightclubs
Tuesday - Pure but it has a seriously young crowd
Wednesday - LAX (where we recently saw Justing Timberlake about 3 weeks ago)
Thursday-TAO @ Venetian - watered down drinks in the night club, better in the lounge
Friday, Sat- Tryst or Blush@the Wynn, Tao, or Jet. Tryst and Blush will be $100+ for two to enjoy drinks. Amazingly expenive, especially shots. Gorgeous setting but sometimes crowds at Tryst are crazy and a fire hazzard.

JayZ's 4040 restaurant/lounge in the Palazzo is tanking unfortunately. Serious management problems.

If you are staying at any of the above mentioned hotels it is much easier to get a line pass for the nightclubs. But you will need to email me for the specifics, I don't want to print it because if everyone knows the secret to avoiding the lines the secret would go away

I'll share that info with any Fodorites but I must be emailed for it

Have a great trip!

Best hotels would be the Wynn and the Venetian/Palazzo and the V/P comes up on Priceline at a reduced rate, go to biddingfortravel.com to see prior winning bids. The time you are visiting makes a huge difference with the type of crowd. Fight weekends are the best for the people watching. But the hotels are also $$$$. Again, it all depends on when you will be in town but the night clubs/nights are the same.

Tryst or Blush @ the Wynn look really cool. I want to go to both, so the best bet is to get there when they open correct? What is the cover charge on a Thurs night?

We are going to Le Reve (the early show) and maybe these would be good options to go to afterwards???

We (myself, husband, friend and her boyfriend) are 31-34 and my parents are in their 50s (look and act young).

I'm so overwhelmed with where we can go and actually get in, and like etc.

If you are staying where you wish to go, I would talk to the hotel concierge, as well as mention it to the players club host. They may be able to get you in, get you a table, etc.

Amelie, Re: For Tryst or Blush if you spend $$$$ at a fine dining restaurant a restaurant manager can walk you in past the crowd but you'll still have to pay entrance fees. If you make a several thousand dollar deposit at the Wynn with their players card you will get a star on your card that entitles you to VIP entry to the nightclubs. Wynn's nightclubs are the hardest to get into w/o knowing someone.

There are always huge lines for Tryst unless you want to spend $800 for a table. Don't bother trying to bribe a security person monitoring the crowds, they are under heavy surveillence by the IRS and cannot take tips at all nightclubs. Try the concierge @ Wynn telling them you are 4 going to see Le Reve at full price and tip big. Doubt if it will work but you can try.

But definitely buying an expensive dinner would do the trick, $6-700+, not even sure if that's enough.

Again, just a warning for your folks, be extra careful when going to Tryst if it is a convention/fight weekend as you can easily be trampled in some spots, I'm not kidding and bathroom waits are 45mins. Security is top notch but traffic is so bad sometimes it is cause for concern.

Blush will be less crowded and again crowds depend a lot on when you go.

Where are you staying Amelie? If you're at any hotel where the nightclubs are you have better chances for VIP entries.

wow. So even getting there when they open or 30 min before, will not get you in?

Crazy.

We are staying Bally's, so no luck there.

I will give up on Tryst. Do you think we can get in to Blush easily at opening? (I'm not sure when Le Reve is over, but I think it's over before 9:30 when Blush opens).

Is Jet really hard to get into at opening time too? I'm guessing LAX is.

Thanks for all the tips.

What about fun lounge type places with music, if the clubs are going to be too hard to get in to?

Every trendy nighclub is hard to get into, including opening time and up to an hour before it even opens, a line is forming. It is much easier when it is only girls trying to get in, but the guys are never handed passes.

I would check the Las Vegas convention center websites (can find though google) to see if any big meetings are in town during your time. Also www.lvol.com for the events guide.

Here's a website where you can purchase nightclub passes.

http://www.nightclubs.com/area/Unite...ightclubs.html

Even with the passes you sometimes still have to wait a bit to get in (15 mins or so) - the nightclubs want to give a feel of exclusivity even of no one is inside. I think that is your best shot if you're willing to pay ahead of time.

Hope this helps

Blush doesn't open until 11 I think but it is a very nice place with an upscale crowd. Not sure how much a table is there but I think it would be cheaper than Tryst?

PS, the best lounges are at the Wynn of course, there is a very nice one just outside of Tryst where you are seated by a hostess. Dinks are $$ everywhere in the Wynn unfortunately. 12-15 per drink w/o premium alcohol.

Wow, that is expensive. We aren't huge drinkers though, more into dancing.

The website says Blush opens at 9.

How often do you go to these places travelinwifey? And how do YOU get in?

Hi Amelie, so Blush must change it's opening times. On a few occasions I have been there it didn't open until 11, again it probably depends on the crowds and how busy the city is.

I have an in at the Wynn (a rhyme), as I am local, and have a starred card that was comped as well as an employee that walks us in whenever.

A close friend of ours is a high roller/knows people that run the casino and we get to see parts of the Wynn that many don't fortunately/unfortunately I wish I could help you get in sooner but I feel that would be taking advantage of what I consider a friend I will be having a big dinner there again in a few weeks, I'll see what I can find out for you and write back here, but it will be a bit.

I'll be trying for sure I've never seen a pass but I'll ask about how to get one.

Warmest regards

So sorry for that line break, the cat stepped on the keyboard!

Anyways I looked up Bally's and see it is owned by Harrah's corp. which also owns Caesar's. When you get to Bally's I would go to the concierge and ask him if he has any access to line passes/comps to get on the list at PURE as soon as you arrive. And have the $$ out so he knows you will tip. Make sure you are dressed nice and it is better if you and your female friend walk up alone, then mention it will be 6 when he asks. Hopefully that will work. Yes, the crowd may be younger but on a weekend it will probably be a mix. I've never been to PURE but all the others, you'll just have to tell me what it's like! It's rep. is for the very young but you never know as convention meetings can dictate who shows up where. Pure nighclub entertainment also pays celebs to show up so you may see someone on the A list if you like spotting those in entertainment.
