Vegas trip report
My mother and I had a great time in Vegas this weekend! We stayed at the Leisure Resorts timeshares, which are behind the Flamingo.
We had never seen the dolphins at the Mirage, so we went early on Saturday morning. The new baby, Maverick, is just adorable! It was too windy for them to play ball, but they were doing lots of other tricks.
Thanks VERY much for the advice about the Tickets2Nite booth at the M&M World! We were able to get half-price tickets for the Improv at Harrah's for 8:30 PM show, and it was GREAT! FYI, the booth opens at 2:00 PM.
It is TRUE that the pirate battle at Treasure Island IS going to be changed in October. The local news showed auditions for female dancers, and evidently, the new show will feature the pirates being seduced by the Sirens.
The monorail is coming along nicely, and is supposed to open in January 2004. We couldn't get a definitive answer on whether or not it will be free, but several of the casino dealers thought they heard it would be free.
We made a trip out to Red Rock Canyon, and the cacti were all in bloom and beautiful. We also stopped at Old Nevada Ranch, and unless you have children under 12 in your group, I advise skipping that.
Of course, we had to have our family traditional dinner at Battista's Hole in the Wall, which was excellent as always.

Blecch!!! It's funny at the Pirates of Caribbean with robots, but not sure about this move.
We almost had our rehearsal dinner at Battista's. I'm going to make it there one of these days.
Thanks for the report.

I'm not so sure about it, either... Evidently, Vegas is now trying to shed the "family friendly" image that it cultivated the last few years, and this is just one of the many moves.
I find it funny because the sirens were in Jason & The Argonauts, which was Greek mythology...
