Vegas, some comments

I just got done with a trade show in Vegas (my 4th trip in 1 year). We did a few new things as we try to each year.

Had a casual dinner at Spago which was good but not at the level it was a few years ago.

Stayed at Harrah's which I do quite often. The sent me a 2 night comp plus comps at the spa. My room was in the Carnival tower and was large but no view. The room did have a coffee maker in it which was awesome and on Fri. night I had turn down service but that was the only night, strange but unexpected.

The spa was nice considering this isn't even a 4 star hotel. Great massage with Eric and really nice hot tub, steam rooms, etc.

Dinner at Mon Ami Gabi, had only eaten lunch there. Very good, great atmosphere and reasonably priced.

Also had dinner at Picasso. With all the fantastic reviews it gets here I have to say I was a bit disappointed. The courses came way too fast. We actually had to ask them to slow it down. We each had the menu degustation with the wine pairings. The wines were all very good but very much favor the white and on the sweet side. One pairing was actually really off but the wine was still good. The food although quite good was not on par to fine french restaurants I've dined at in Paris and even home in Seattle although the price was the same. I have to say that I would not choose to go here again but would go to Aqua again (was there a few weeks ago).

Exhibit at the Venetian, Guggenheim/ Hermitage was really wonderful. Takes about 30 mins. with the audio and is a nice showing of the progression of different artistic styles.

Weather was fantastic! And Vegas was fun as always. I really enjoyed watching all the families with their children trying to prentend there wasn't 100K porn stars everywhere as the Adult Entertainment convention as well as the CES was in town. I have to say that I agree 100% with the people who say that Vegas is NOT a family destination no matter what the newest marketing campaing says. Kids, porn, drinking, gaming.... which one of these doesn't belong with the others. haha! Viva Las Vegas!

Forgot to mention that based on the info provided here we also went to the Stratosphere just to play some slots, boyfriend won about $280. Worth the $8 cab ride!

Antoher post reminded me of the Mexican restaurant at the Venetian on the canal. While I can't remember the name it is very good food, the best tortilla soup! And they have a lot of fun margarita's that you can get to go. Inexpensive.
