Vegas repeat or Tahoe?
Planning on a second trip with my daughters-early 40's. Had a blast in Vegas but wondering if we should see the scenery of Tahoe this trip. Gambling not important.Relaxing, walking, maybe a show would do. Need a car in Tahoe? CA or NV??
North or South? Meals more expensive in Tahoe? Appreciate any input

Dot, unless you and your daughters feel as if you didn't get to see all of Las Vegas you want, then I suggest you visit Lake Tahoe.
Scenically, it is very beautiful and the lake, of course, is gorgeous. Summer temps are more in the low to mid 80's compared to LV 100+.
We like Caesars Palace; but then my nephew worked there for several years. If you want to do some real relaxing and walking, you might want to consider renting a vacation cottage. Most want to rent for an entire week; some will rent for a weekend. To find these, use Google, my favorite search engine. Once there, type in search words:
Lake Tahoe vacation rentals
Also, use Google to read/learn more about Lake Tahoe. Type in search words:
Lake Tahoe
Yes, you'll need a car there so you can take in what sights you want to see. Meals about the same price.
Tahoe is completely different from Las Vegas.

We spent a week at the hyatt in tahoe a year or so ago and it was wonderful. They had a small casino in the hotel so you could gamble if you wanted, but the hotel itself was great. It was actually like going to Hawaii, without the airfare because you had a great restraunt on the water, beach services,(the guys put up your umbrella for you and waitresses serve lunch on the beach)hiking, etc. was close by, it was great.

October in Lake Tahoe can be beautiful but can get chilly at night - even below freezing, because of the altitude (6200 ft. at the lake). There is a considerable difference in development between the north and south ends of the lake - south end very developed - all the big casinos etc, north end less so. If you're not a big gambler/show attendee, the north end might suit you better.

If earlier in Oct then Lake Tahoe would be my choice. Also stayed at the Hyatt last summer for a week during their remodel and could see that the improvements would make it a very nice place. We stayed in one of the refurbished rooms and thought it was very nice. Lodgy. Probably would use the private beach less in October as days are shorter and cooler but still nice. Lots of hiking and outdoor activities available in Tahoe and some really good restaurants. Definitely need a car in Tahoe. Meals are about the same in Tahoe as elsewhere. Lots of choices from fast food to fine dining. If you stayed at South shore you should consider Embassy Suites on the CA side. We've stayed there many times at the end of Sept and always had a great time. They have the free cocktail hour and we take our drinks to the outside deck and enjoy the limited lake view but still feel like we're in the mountains. Also it's not a casino but it would be close (next door) to casinos where you could catch a show. Not very busy at this time of year.
