Vegas for five 60 somethings - DVARA

Five of us in mid 60s are going to Vegas for 3 days to see some shows. DVARA has been suggested because we can get a 2 BR suite plus sofa bed. We're not concerned that it is not right on the strip and has no casino. No smoking is a plus. Are there other properties where we can all stay together that we should investigate?

emckeeve, do you mean vdara? I have never stayed there but friends that have stayed there said that the MGM complex is HUGE and it is almost impossible to navagate your way around and out of there.

I would recommend the Monte Carlo. It is a small hotel/casino so it will be easier to hook up with your friends. I stayed there in the past and the staff was the nicest/happiest staff on the strip. The food was good and it has a good location.
There are many, many hotel options so check out the room prices and the locations before you book your stay, good luck and enjoy your trip, ziggypop

VDARA is in the hot new huge City Center complex (which isn't that complicated to navigate IMO). There are casinos next to VDARA - and there is a tram that goes through the complex if you want to ride it from one resort to another, and also over to Bellagio. see: http://www.citycenter.com/

It sits back a bit from the strip - but it's a great location - again - next to Bellagio, and across the strip from the Miracle Mile of shops at Planet Hollywood - and just down the street from Paris.

I've never stayed in Vdara, but City Center is new and pretty cool, and well located.

I just wanted to add as an FYI that 2-bedroom suites are not that common in strip hotels (afaik), and they tend to be quite expensive. It may be quite a bit cheaper to get two separate rooms on the same floor.

Plus, 5 people and one bathroom? Are any of them women? Although the 2 bdrm suites may have 2 baths, those are going to be really pricey.

The Venetian and Palazzo have suites that sleep 5 people (2 queens and a sofa bed) but there is only 1 bath and there's no way I'd squeeze 5 adults in there.

We finally booked Vdara . . . the 2 bedroom hospitality suite. It has 2 baths and a powder room too! Expensive but splitting it 5 ways it isn't so bad.

We have tickets to Celine. Any other suggestions? We wanted the Beatles Cirque but it looks like it's not playing in June.

My wife wants to see Elvis. I think you have to see at least one Cirque show, they are spectactular. You can wait until you get there to purchase tickets and probably save some money, if you feel like gambling on availability.
