Vail too far from Red Rock?

We will be staying in Vail but have tickets to a concert at Red Rock. Is it too far or too dangerous to expect to drive back to vail after the concert? We're flat-landers!

Have no idea how to answer that. It is an hours drive or maybe an hour and half straight west on I-70 - a four lane divided highway. Dangerous ??? from what ?? About 70 miles. We have modern, paved highways in Colorado.

It's about an hour and a half - all on interstate highway.

Dangerous? No....unles you're too tired, or, heaven forbid, drunk.

Too far? That depends. It's an hour and a half away. How tired you gonna be after the concert? And if your drunk..... just getting behind the wheel is too far.

If you are not familar with Mountain driving, my first experience would not be driving to Vail at night, especially if your are tired. The last 20 minutes into Vail can cause white knuckles. Go to Breckenridge instead. It is slightly closer and an easier drive.

Get serious. It is a four lane, divided, interstate highway with wide shoulders and relatively straight. There is nothing white knuckle about it. Now, if it is snowing -- that is another issue.

I was about to say the same thing! Hardly "mountain" driving on that interstate!

And another "come on get real". It is an interstate highway--4 lanes. If the driver is sober it is a normal driving situation. I shouldn't even have to say "sober".To put it succinctly, it is an hour and a half drive, and much of it cannot be driven fast because of grades. NO PROBLEM.

Must have been on the bike path coming down from the summit. That will raise the hair on your neck even in daylight.
