Vacationing with the conchs for Old Island Days

I know the Sunset Celebration is a must, even heard about the wares and shows that go on. Can I haggle with the hawkers or will I offend and be tossed off the dock to enjoy the sunset with the fish?

TIA for your help!

You can try but they stick with their price usually. Try offering cash.

x is right, prices seem to be pretty firm. However, understand you're not buying T-shirts off Duval St at Mallory Square. Most, if not all, of the stuff is produced by the vendors themselves. And the prices aren't THAT outrageous....

Thank you both! Wasn't sure if it was similar to marketplaces I have been to in the caribbean. Will keep in mind that those items are hand produced.

One other question: Is the handprint fabric factory still in existance?

Lived in the Conch Republic 20 years ago and am looking forward to seeing how it has grown up, but concerned that some of my favorite places might be gone!

TIA!

You can try to bargin with them, especially if you are buying more than one item and/or paying cash. It isn't unheard of and happens every day. They are used to it and probably expect it more than you realize. Everything on the pier that is sold has to be man made. It is one of the rules for the vendors. Yes, the Handprint Factory is still around. It might be a little more touristy from when you were here last but they still have some very nice things.
