I would like to take my family 3 children under 8 to Florida for a Vacation. We have stayed at Sanibal and Clearwater Beach before and enjoyed both of them. can anyone recommend any other places to stay including hotel. Just want to relax for 5 days

Depending on the time of year, I would recommend Ft. Myers Beach or Pensacola Beach. Ft. Myers is south of Tampa, and is warm most of the year while Pensacola is on the panhandle and get cooler in winter. Both are great for families though Pensacola Beach is smaller and less developed. (Ft. Myers is a lot like Clearwater).
There are numerous hotels in Ft Myers and rates go down after Spring Break as summer is the off season. In Pensacola Beach we stayed at the Best Western. It was just fine for a beach front hotel.

My suggestion for your family trip is Longboat Key which is about an hour and a l/2 from Tampa Airport. We have stayed at the Holiday Inn on the beach there and it is a good value. There are sightseeing opportunities in Sarasota if you need a break from relaxing on the beach. The beach is a great one for kids, white sandy and no undertow. Sometimes the beaches in the panhandle can be rougher for children.

Ken, good point re: possibility of rough water in the Panhandle.
My wife and I have considered Longboat Key before. Would this also be a good place for a couple without children? Is this the closest beach to Sarasota? Are there good bars/restaurants on the Key and is a lot of it within walking distance? And most importantly, how is the quality of the beach? Is it wide, and is it better on certain parts of the key? (We've sometimes been disappointed by the size of the beach in front of our hotel, and it's tough to get them to give you this info over the phone). Thanks!
