Can't help without at least a little more info... What do you want to do? scenery? history? culture? lie on the beach? meet people? get away from people? Do you want an active holiday (skiing? boating? biking? hiking?) How will you get there, drive? fly? train? Do you have a general budget range? Do you have time of year restrictions?

hmmmm... its still pretty wide open. But here's a couple suggestions, both allow for a wide range of activities, and both are places I've been and want to go back to.
One is New Orleans. Its a great city, lots of history, wonderful food, nightlife, great music. If you get out of the city you can see some good scenery as well, take swamp tour to see the Bayou, maybe visit some of the plantations. If you were into music I would recommend going during Jazzfest, which is the best music festival I have ever been to, and has music to suit most any taste.
A second possibility would be Calfornia. I'm partial to Northern CA, myself. Fly into San Francisco, spend some time in the city. Maybe head out to Napa, or Yosemite, or down the coast to Carmel and Monterey. You have a great mix of things to do depending on how active you feel, and how social you want to be.
