USAA Credit Cards

Someone on another thread said you do not need a military connection to get a USAA credit card. I cannot find that info on their website. Anyone have more info?

That surprises me - I am a member and thought that a military connection was required. Perhaps I am wrong!

Here is a blurb about membership from their website. You should call directly and ask about your eligibility.

****************************

Thank you for your interest. USAA is a member-owned insurance and financial services company.

Who can apply?
* Active duty officer and enlisted personnel
* National Guard and Reserve officer and enlisted personnel
* Officer candidates in commissioning programs
* Former spouses and adult children of USAA members

If you would like more information or clarification on USAA's eligibility requirements, please call us at 1-800-292-8302.

You DO need the military connection for the insurance, but hte banking division is separate and you do not need the connection for that.

We have used their services for over 20 years and they are very good.

Hi Conlet, mms is correct, you do not have to be military (active or retired) to obtain a USAA Visa or Master card. The phone is: 1-800-922-9092. Best wishes.

Hello beanweb! USAA issues its credit cards through its Federal Savings Bank. The US military has Never had any special access to its credit cards or financial services which the general public has not. The insurance branch is separated by law from its finalcial services branch.

USAA members do get a better interest rate than non-USAA members -- maybe a percent or so.

beanweb24, don't feel bad. I didn't know either until I called them and asked.
