Upscale lodgings in Palm Springs

Planning a romantic respite in Palm Springs. Considering Ingleside Inn or La Mancha. I've heard the latter declared bankruptcy so I'd like to know status of current service and rooms. Suggestions of other upscale lodgings in the area (with pools) would be welcome. Tell me about where you stay and what you like about it.

Thanks!

My first choice would be the Mariott resort in Palm Desert. This is one of the top resorts in the country. Definitely very upscale. They have boats that come right into the lobby to take you to the restaurants. Awesome place. My other choice would be La Quinta which is another upscale proprty.

Either the Marriott Desert Springs or the La Quinta Hotel are nice. But they are both "mega-resorts." The Marriott is almost 1,000 rooms, the La Quinta Hotel 640. The LQ Hotel is probably more intimate and charming, but if you want a romantic, "old California" experience ask to be put in one of the original casitas built in 1926 (but check the rate).

If you want more of an historic, romantic, quintessential "Palm Springs" experience, check out The Willows, Korakia Pensione, Villa Royale, or Casa Cody. The Willows is the priciest, but what an experience. My favorite is Korakia. If you are gonna blow your budget, The Nash House at Korakia is the way to go. If I had to choose between Ingleside Inn and La Mancha I would choose Ingleside. La Mancha is more of a dowager. You can look at these properties on www.palmsprings.com

have fun.

My wife & I spent a wonderful 6 nights in November at the Marriott Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage ( just along from Palm Desert )
We much preferred this resort to the Desert Springs Marriott. Much cosier..relaxed Spanish style resort...lovely spacious rooms, overlooking beautifully manicured fairways & greens & pools.
If you have a car you can park close to your room....unlike the other Marriott where you have a 15 minute hike from the parking lot to your room !!
Very attentive and comfortable round the pool....( there's one smaller pool for couples only....and another for families )
We thoroughly enjoyed the weather in November and the great room rate too !!
Best wishes from Scotland !

In downtown Palm SPrings we stayed a few nights at a Hyatt suite hotel, reasonably priced discount thru AAA.
We have also stayed at both Marriott hotels, the Desert SPrings is huge, built on a lake with spa, amenities, worth seeing even if you dont stay there. It is the "saved by the Bell hotel", the show filmed there a few times.
We also stayed at the smaller Marriott Rancho Las Palmas, very lovely, less expensive.
The desert area is large, sprawls over many communities.

My favorite hotel in Palm Springs is the Westin Mission Hills resort. I much prefer the quieter, more elegant atmosphere of Mission Hills to the glitzy "Caesar's Palace" Marriott Desert Springs. Of course La Quinta is wonderful too, but I prefer the golf courses at Mission Hills since my handicap is fairly high. (22)

I agree with The Willows and Korakia;both are lovely and a welcome change from mega-hotels (although I like LaQuinta also).
