United Frequent Flier Hotel Certificates?

Are you a United Frequent flier with Hotel Certificates to spare - the ones for 50% off two nights stay that they send when you book a flight with miles?

My fiance and I planned our honeymoon thinking we could use ours - but just noticed that the ones we have expire before our September honeymoon!

If you have some that we could take off your hands, please let me know. We could use four of them... Thanks so much in advance!!

I have a couple of first class airline tickets I could send your way as well.

We've definitely had ones that we didn't use in the past that went to waste so I thought I'd see if others had any.

I'd pay for them, I'm not looking for freebies.

Gina:

You may want to try your request at www.flyertalk.com, They are a much nicer bunch over there. By the way, I have seen people give away these coupons. Oh, and don't limit yourselves to United, American and other airlines give away the same certs.

Thanks very much for the info - I didn't realize American gave them away. We were thinking of booking interisland flights with them, maybe we'll do that and see if we get certificates from them...

I'll also try flyertalk.com, never heard of it before.

I received those coupons last year, and atttempted to use them. It turned out that it was cheaper just to book the hotel without the coupons. The coupons were 50% off the rack rate, and all of the hotels on the list but one in NYC were cheaper without the discount.

Ann is right. Those coupons are virtually useless since, as she said, the 50% is off of the rack rate. I discovered this when trying to use some several years ago. Now I just throw them away. You can nearly always find a better deal on a room.

One man's trash is another man's treasure - they may not be a good deal everywhere, but 50% off rack rate is still the best deal we've found in Hawaii.

If anyone else out there is just throwing these "useless" certificates away, please let me know! We could really use them!

P.S. At the advice of another poster, I checked out FlyerTalk, which is a really neat site with an area specifically for trading coupons, upgrades, etc. Highly recommended if you haven't seen it yet.

Gina, are you sure these certificates are transferrable?

Gina, go buy an Entertainment book you will have lots of discounts. You could order the Hawaii version and use the coupons for everything and it would pay for itself. I would have them ship it express.

Just an update - a poster at FlyerTalk told me to call United and that they send them out at your request now (they didn't used to do this!). I called and they agreed to send three coupons to me.

XYZ, these certs are transferrable, just FYI.

Thanks for all responses!
