I will be flying into Chicago next year via a British airline. However, I need to get to San Francisco and will be flying there with United Airlines - I have noticed several disgruntled passenger experiences on this forum. What is the score and am I making a mistake?

Things are back on track at United, unless the flight attendants make good on their promises to now get ugly with airline management. I personally don't fly United because they ALWAYS have labor problems of some type. However, they're basically the same as Continental, Delta, American, US Airways, etc. I wouldn't worry too much. From Chicago, United and American are probably your best nonstop options to SFO.

As the previous poster said, things have improved at United. By next year, who knows, there could be problems with ANY airline! And, also as the previous poster said, United and American are pretty much the name of the game when flying to and from Chicago.

I've usually always flown United on my trips to the States and I have never had a problem (touch wood). Sure they may leave a little late but then they arrive on time so I have no complaints. I've had more problems with America West. The flight attendants on UA have always been polite and I occasionally get an upgrade. May be it's the accent? Who knows!

Be aware re:United that many of the flights between Chicago and San Francisco are on the relatively small 737s -- which, among other things, have a few window-less window seats, i.e., just wall, no window. Also be aware that most of the seats from mid-wing forward are reserved for "Economy Plus," a privileged class of frequent flyers -- and you can't even buy those seats with more money, you just have to be lucky if there are NO other privileged people you MIGHT be assigned there, but probably not.

I will be flying from London to Chicago next month, flying UA for my 1st time. I must admit, I am a British Airways fan, and am quite anxious about flying UA. Can anyone advise what type/size of aircraft normally used between chicago & Phoenix?

Chicago-Phoenix has various aircraft types, including A320, 727, and 737.

Ken - If you go to the United Airlines web site, www.ual.com, and do a flight search as if you were making a reservation, along with the flight information it tells you the aircraft type scheduled to be used for that particular flight.
