Two Inns in Carmel

If I remember correctly, the Highlands Inn is not really in Carmel, but on the outskirts. It sits on a cliff and overlooks the Pacific. I'm sure the views are amazing, and I have heard wonderful things about it. But if you want to be in Carmel, it is not the place to stay. You would have to drive into town and try to find a parking place, which can be difficult. I believe the Talley Ho is in Carmel and much more centrally located.

My wife and I have stayed at the Highlands Inn. It truly was a special place that you shouldn't miss. Each room has a fireplace and a cliffside view of the ocean. Lots of little treats in the room (including binoculars for ocean viewing) that make the stay a cut above the rest. Even if you don't decide to stay there, at least try dinner at the hotel's Pacifics Edge restaurant. It's one of the finest in the country (particularly if you like wine and beautiful views). Reserve early for dinner at sunset. Also, I don't recall the hotel being that far outside Carmel. Have a great trip!

My husband and I were just in carmel for our first anniversary Feb.28. The highlands is incredible and not far from the actual city. Definately worth the short drive. Also check out the Tickle Pink Inn (next door) And carmel does have a web.Good Luck.
