Two days in Yosemite
We will be traveling into Yosemite from Highway 120 and plan to arrive by late morning. We have reservations for one night in the park . Our plans include doing some hiking. Will we have time to drive to Mariposa Grove area? I was thinking maybe do that the second day and have breakfast at Wawona. But then what is the best way back to Angels Camp, back through the park the way we come in or a different route?
Thank you!

With just one night and two days in the park, I'd recommend just spending the time in Yosemite Valley. April is an excellent time to visit, we're headed there for 3 nights next week and will spend the whole time in Yosemite Valley. You might ask about the hiking conditions at Tuolumne & Merced Grove on Hwy 120 near Crane Flats. Not sure why you are headed to Angels Camp, but just up the road on Hwy 4 is Big Trees State park which also has an excellent grove of giant sequoias.
If you do decide to go down to Wawona, you can exit the park and take Hwy 49 up to Angels Camp. You will be driving in the foot hills so you might see some wildflowers. This route will take about 2 1/2 hours.
If you drive back thought the park and exit on Hwy 120 it will take a little less than 3 hours.
Another option would be to exit at El Portal and take Hwy 140 to Hwy 49. This route would take the longest at a little over 3 hours but you follow the river and it's a pretty drive out of the park.
The drive down to Wawona is a pretty slow and curvey drive so you might not feel like driving that route back and you would have to do it to exit on Hwy 140 or 120.
