You can type 'passport' in the search box.

Yes, if you search the archives on this and every other travel forum you'll find hundreds, no thousands of posts dealing with this same question. It has been discussed ad nauseam.

For starters check out the US State Department website (you available options will be explained there):

Many people say calls to their congressman help them get their passports.

if you live near a passport office, go there, be there when they open on Monday morning.

Have a read, Charly:

This refers to the Passport Agency in Chicago. Get thine rear there pronto!

I agree with annieO's comment. Yes, it does help to contact your Congressional Representative or U.S. Senator's office. Be sure to follow up with something in writing like a fax or letter.

On other issues, I have done this with my Senator and have been amazed how they can cut through bureaucratic red tape. Do it right away!

My friend recently went to the passport office in our city, was there when they opened, made an appointment (for later that day at 1pm) , went back for his appointment, and walked out with a passport by the end of the day. And she hadn't even applied for one, she had just realized "duh" that hers was expired and she was leaving in a few days on a vacation.
