We found the beds to be reasonably comfortable - not as comfy as my fabulous matress at home
but pretty nice. We had a king sized bed and it had 5 pillows on it and there were a couple more in the closet, so we could pick and choose the softness/firmness.
The bathroom was fine - not large, but updated with new or newish fixtures, floors, wallpaper. It had a tub/shower combo and a sink with a vanity top and a reasonable amount of counter space. The toilet was in a small alcove, so slightly seperated from the rest of the bathroom.
We also liked that the room had its own temperature control. Some older hotels don't, which is a pain.
The parking is valet, although I don't know the rate. The valet seemed pretty prompt for retreiving cars. There were some parked onsite, but I don't know if they all are.

One more thing to consider when choosing between the two hotels... The Dauphine is reputed to be haunted -- and that's a fun plus for me ... even though I've stayed at many "haunted" properties and the only thing scary I ever saw was the bill
I'm still deciding, but I'm sure they'd both be great. But Chilepepper's right that the breakfast at the Dauphine is "expanded" Continental -- including cereals. The Place D'Armes' breakfast is croissants and pastries. That may sway my decision because I don't eat sweet things at breakfast.

I agree - the breakfast at Place d'Armes wasn't bountiful. I didn't mind since I was basically looking for something to get me going so coffee and crossant was fine. The addition of some cereal and fruit would be nice though.
