Oh! And toured the White House? Capitol? Library of Congress?

jserpente Dec 9th, 2005 11:22 PM

Seetheworld wrote, "gotten poison ivy the day you traveled?"

No, but this year I did strike a fever and a flu, a period and a migraine upon arrival in Seattle followed by the discovery of the biggest rainbow bruise on my right boob from crashing into a row of seats at the previous evening's Tori performance. Wooo!!!

Okay, have you ever:

Stood with one foot in West Virginia and one foot in Maryland while shouting at Virginia?

Repeated a local ghost story?

Picked cherries, blueberries, raspberries, peaches, grapes and apples in the same year?

Stood in front of a Seurat painting twice as tall as you are and muttered to yourself, "Bueller? Bueller?"

Worn a tank top and shorts today and mittens and a scarf tomorrow?

Met an American Holocaust survivor?

Drank fresh squeezed orange juice at a Florida welcome center?

Cursed a Wal-Mart?

Bought new underwear instead of doing your laundry?

Walked home at 8:00 a.m.?

Listened to "Whaddya Know"?

"waterslide at slickrock, Sedona Az"

Keith, this was going to be a highlight of our family trip to AZ about a decade ago. We were warned off doing it because of parasidic, dangerous water. Too bad.

Visited a Professional Sports Hall Of Fame?

Navigated a 12% grade road in a car with 200,000 miles on the odometer?

Watched bats feed outside your hotel room door in Camp Verde, AZ while you and your spouse sipped Jameson?

Visited Montezuma's Castle, and been awed?

Climbed a dormant volcano?

Vacationed on the "target side" of a fast-moving forest fire?

Saw rain fall, and evaporate before it hit the ground?

Done a distillery tour in Tennessee?

Chased your kids into the frigid waters of a Finger Lake?

Walked the "rut" at the top of the Empire State Building?

--Gone to the Kentucky Derby? (Haven't yet, but one of these years...)
--Been to a town that is named for its position relative to three states? (TexasArkansasLouisiana=Texarkana)
--Watched in amazement (good or bad, depending) as two former rival US Presidents, one the father of the current Pres whose idea this supposedly was, travel the USA together, asking Americans to help disaster victims.

Folded your hands, bowed your head and felt a tear in your eye as you profoundly wished our elected leaders would live up to the vision of America that most of us hold so dear?

Returned from a bad experience overseas truly wanting to drop down and kiss the ground?

Marveled at a landscape of Midwestern American farmland?

Crossed the Mississippi three times in 15 minutes (ok, we made a wrong turn) with a carload of kids in the van, singing Ol' Man River every time?

"Folded your hands, bowed your head and felt a tear in your eye as you profoundly wished our elected leaders would live up to the vision of America that most of us hold so dear?"

Fun Thread. I have done many things listed here (13 from the original post) but I see there is way more to be seen and experienced. Heading out to Baltimore tomorrow for work so maybe I can start there.

Ate way to many dogs and had way too much beer at way too many ballparks.

Eat at Waffle House. Sober.

Eat at White Castle. Also sober.

Watch the sunset over any of the Great Lakes with someone special.

Watch the sunrise over that same lake the next morning without ever leaving.

Ride the incline in Pittsburgh.

Attend the Army-Navy game.

Go to Ohio St. - Michigan game.

Ride the rides at Cedar Point.

Gamble at a church festival.

Get married in Vegas. Talk about a gamble.

SusanEva Dec 11th, 2005 04:30 PM

Ohmigosh, Sam H.

I thought we were soul mates until that last one! Almost fell off my chair laughing.

Did all those others though.

Three spots on the GLs - Mackinaw Island, Caseville, MI and Keeweenaw Brockway Mountain Drive.

:) :) :)

StephCar Dec 11th, 2005 04:54 PM

This thread is a riot. I can't believe how many I have done on the original list--15 total. I didn't think anyone ever heard of a Door County Fish Boil, but it sure is fun!

Also jserpente have been to 5 bars in one night in Appleton, along with IKEA. Stayed in Texarkana (on the Texas side), did the 4 corners and ran up the Art Museum steps in Philly like Rocky (I wasn't the only one either, it is a "thing" there, lol.)

Why would anyone eat at White Castle sober?

US is a great country...anyone ever spend 4th of July on the White house lawn?

tuscanlifeedit Dec 11th, 2005 07:27 PM

Threw up behind the bleachers at the HS football game?

Been to a toga party?

Been to a clam bake?

Pig roast?

Had deep-fried turkey?

Tried out for the cheerleading squad and didn't make it?

Been arrested at a protest march?

Ever been mugged?

Been to the Liberty Bell?

Times Square on New Year's Eve?
