Tropicana in Vegas

My wife and I stayed there in 1989 and then it was pretty nice. We went back in 1994 but we stayed at Caesar's but went back to the Tropicana for old times sake. What a change! It went from a resort type atmosphere to a tacky almost comical atmosphere. Sort of like a Disney "Small World" environment. There are better values in Las Vegas I'm sure.

I was at the Tropicana this past June for 4 days and found it to be very nice. They have been doing some upgrading, as it was sort of corny. The rooms are nice-sized and the pool is very good. The location, across from the MGM, Luxor, Excaliber, and New York, New York makes it a very reasonably priced property for this area. I only had dinner there once, at the buffet, and found it to be a good meal at not too bad a price. I'm sure there are better, but it was a real nice place to stay.

We have been to Vegas many times. You can't beat the Monte Carlo. It is a lovely new resort in a very central location to many of the big places (MGM, NEW YORK, Excaliber). We loved the great pool areas, light airy interior atmosphere, size, and surely the price. ($89 weekday, $139 weekend)
They have a great brewery bar with live music, game places for kids, and the Lance Burton magician show in his new theatre. We have been in many casinos, but were smitten with the ambience and service.
