Trip w/ 17 year old

Hello!

I want to take my 17 year old nephew on a trip for a few days. We would depart from LAX. I considered Cleveland for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but airfares are high right now. Any other suggestions?

You don't say what his interests are....music? what kind? Action? tropical island pursuits? big city?(Can't beat NYC-much safer than people believe)

What kind of kid is he, or you know him well enough to say? Does he like to hike, any inclination for the outdoors? How many days? Did he express some interest in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is that the kind of experience you want to match? Some clues like that would help.

How about taking him to the EMP (Experience Music Project) in Seattle. I assume he likes rock music. You could also take him to see Kurt Cobain's former home near Madrona Park and Jimi Hendrix's gravesite in Renton, approximately 10 and 30 minutes respectively from downtown Seattle.

I am assuming that you are the cool uncle... How about Hawaii or Alaska...Hawaii would be more about the beach, but there is tons of hiking, kyacking, snorkeling...not to mention girls on the beach! Alaska would be more of an outdoors/camping adventure, but probably not something he would be able to do with his friends (yet)...do take advantage of being the cool uncle...it is a special thing!

My 17 year old son still talks about our long week-end spent in NY City. He loved Times Square at night, the museum of Natural History, the ferry ride out to the Statue of Liberty, eating at the Hard Rock Cafe.
We're small town folks, so he just loved the "big city".
Have fun whatever you choose ~ your nephew is one lucky kid.

We have taken our 18 yr old son to NYC when he was 16, California and Nevada when he was 15 and Florida every winters since he was born and the place he liked the most was Las Vegas.

Don't ask me why
