On day 1 there's no way to access Tower Fall due to the road closure. Otherwise your plan looks fine. On day 4 you can add a drive up to Lake Butte Overlook for a view of Yellowstone Lake from above.

One more thing, here is all Geyser activity description, and where to find the predicted eruption times, beside the one posted at the Old Faithful Visitor Center.

https://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvis...r-activity.htm

Old Faithful is quite frequent, but if you wish to see the Grand or others, better plan your activities accordingly. There's also an info line you could call (or it was ) to hear the predicted eruption times.

We got lucky to see the Grand without a major wait for the eruption. And... watching it's eruption for over 11 minutes.... it's a loooong time to watch erupting geyser

ANDYG5056 thanks for extra resources. I realize that we need to be flexible and allow time to go with the flow. my main concerns with the itinerary is first of all to figure out what to see while staying in gardiner and what to see from west yellowstone and then to make sure we have time for all the main highlights, i definitely hope to be able to do one or two longer hikes so im gonna look closer at the waterfall list you sent. We will be going to GTNP for two fulls days at the end. what do you consider the must see things ther? any great hikes that you recommend? Also what you recommend we see/do on drive from yellowstone to jackson?

From West Yellowstone to Jackson I would drive through the park stopping at various overlooks for views of the Tetons, maybe hike by the lake at Colter Bay, drive up to Signal Mountain Summit, visit the Mormon Row and Menors Ferry historic districts if that's something that interests you.

For hiking Taggart & Bradley Lakes is one of my favorites. Like Jenny Lake it's very popular so you'll want to get there early for parking. Grand View Point is a steep but short hike with a nice pay off. From the summit you can look down on Jackson Lake on one side and Two Ocean & Emma Matilda Lakes on the other side. The parking area is located down a road which is the first right turn after passing Jackson Lake Lodge (if coming from the south). As of last year it was unsigned from the highway.

I like this site for hike recommendations which you can sort by distance and location

I would carry bear spray, have it somewhere easily accessible and familiarize yourself with its use while hiking in Yellowstone and Grand Teton https://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/bearsafety.htm

Great reply in hikes. I just ran across this site HERE:

Very resourceful, maps, road closures, road constructions, etc.

Just as a reminder, the temps are much colder at higher elevations, have something warm handy. We went there Last week of June 2019, and we had a snow storm, for like 15 minutes. It didnít accumulate at Yellowstone, but it did in some.parts of Colorado for a day or two. Also, while waiting for the Grand geyser eruption, we got hammered by frozen rain pellets for like 5 minutes 😀 At some peaks, a snow drifts were still around, some kids were taking pictures having a snowball fight end of June.

Have a great trip.

Very useful discussion. We are also planning a trip during 4th of July holidays to YNP. Arriving in SLC on 6/30 and departing BOZ on 7/6. Have reservations inside park for first two nights, then one in West Yellowstone and the last night in Gardiner. Yet to chalk out the details. Btw, it looks like the road between Tower junction and Canyon is closed all this season, this will cause some delays and replanning.

we are leaving next week and now i think i may have made one miscalculation. On the last night we are planning to stay in jackson, WY but our flight is from bozeman which looks like a 4-5 hour drive meaning we'd have to leave very early to catch our flight hme. i can still change my hotel reservation so any ideas where we could stay 2-3 hors away in between jackson and bozeman?

With the popularity of National Parks due to the pandemic, parks are overcrowded and many like Arches N.P. are reaching a full capacity as early as 9AM. As a result, you won't be able to find anything, even in overpriced West Yellowstone, unless you're super lucky and should be playing Lotto instead of looking for lodging near Yellowstone. And if you go any further up North, might as well sleep in Bozeman itself.

But TRY THIS:

Call and see what's even available. Good luck.

Hello I am also planning a trip in the last week of Sept 2021 and early Oct first week. I am panning to stay at Lake House [email protected] 15475 Hebgen Lake Road , West Yellowstone, for 4 days. Is this place is good base for visiting west yellow stone and North Yellow stone visiting spots?. i have never been there before. please advise.

West Yellowstone is a great place to stay. We were there, at the best western ,for three nights and were less then 10 minutes to the park entrance.
if you want to double check your location put your address into Waze and see how far from the park entrance your hotel is.
