Trip to Washington DC this week?

Hi, I was/am scheduled to start a trip to Washington DC this Thursday 9/20. I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not I should still go. What is the situation like down there as far as sights being closed, security etc.?
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

We never close in DC, except when it snows an inch. We had this discussion two weeks ago. Osama bin Laden lives in a hole ... and we do not. Welcome to DC. Ciao

Sights are open, except for White House tours. Capitol just resumed tours today. Come to DC. Enjoy.

Thank you, Ilisa. Yes, do come to DC ... we need your money, as always. Now, who's got a restaurant or hotel question? We are open for business!! Ciao

Kara,

Please do come to D.C. I can tell you as someone who lives here, that life is going on, although just a bit more carefully.

People are finally starting to come out again, and all sights are open, except for, as the other poster mentioned, the White House tours.

All museums are open, and in fact, I myself, am thinking of attending one of the free jazz concerts at the Smithsonian this Friday, if they haven't stopped now that summer is over.

None of us who live here feel fearful about traveling around the area, so please do visit.
