trip to the Boston Area

I am planning to visit Boston and its area (id Rhode Island and Cape Cod) during 5 days at the end of January-beginning of February. I have never been there before and i don't know which itinerary to choose, how many days to stay in Boston, in Cape Cod...where to look for an hotel...could you give some suggestions to help me organize my trip? Many thanks.

Laetitia, do a search on this forum using the word "Boston,"--there are tons of posts that will help you. In terms of hotel rooms, check out www.hotwire.com or www.hoteldiscounts.com.

Cape Cod is reall a summer/fall destination - I'd give it a miss this time of year and replace with New Hamphire and/or Vermont.

laetitia - we just got back from our first family trip to boston and loved it. stayed in copley sq (lots of good hotels). v convenient to 3 "T" stops (subway), great restaurants, newbury st (high end boutiques), 2 chi chi indoor malls, $3 cab ride from the theater district. the freedom trail downtown at boston common is v walkable. save the cape for good weather! enjoy!

Greetings:
You can get your fill of Boston on foot in 2 or 3 days. We generally stay @ Swissotel, adjacent to Chinatown, a terrific find on Priceline. Start bidding @ 45 & we've never paid more than 60 for a 200.00 room. Subways are a less than 10 minute walk away, thence enabling you to explore the entire town as well. Have a blast!
