Treasure Island, Las Vegas

I am thinking of staying at the Treasure Island this Sept. I am taking my 21 year old son on his 1st trip to Vegas. How is the hotel, pool, & casino. The only other place I have stayed in is The Golden Nugget. But I thought my son would enjoy the strip. Any suggestions.

The pool is nothing fancy, not like say , the Mirage, or Mandelay Bay.
The casino is like most others. Rooms are nice. Its a easy walk to several other nice properties also.

Ti has been a very reliable favourite over the years. We stayed at both the TI and Paris last July and much preferred Paris. Rate at the time was comparable...room at Paris was a step above TI, pool area at at different atmosphere but at about the same level. Both had good locations...actually the Paris a bit better...a tad more central. I think you will enjoy TI...rooms are not luxurious but quite nice. Now, I was not at all impressed with the casino looks-wise...I found it old looking, dark(pirate theme), lose ceiling...a bit worn.

....and I'd advise not planning to spend much time detouring to downtown. Sorry to say, but it's really dying on the vine. Just returned this weekend from LV and hadn't been downtown in 3 years.
Noeth end of the strip is also decaying noticeably. Treasure Island is about as far north as I'd go based on this last visit.
