TREASURE HUNTERS FINALLY GOES ABROAD

The TV listings for next week says the TH teams go abroad. Hurray!!! I've only been waiting almost a year for this.

I wonder if the Fogal daughter can whine in foreign languages.

And, hey, isn't there a Lafayette Park in Washington DC? I want to know if I'm right about the death mask being Lafayette 'cause I know they go to the Lafayette statue in Paris...why is this name coming up so often? Any theories?

baker, you will have to let us know how what you saw on TV tonight compared to what you really saw in Paris. To bad you didn't make it onto the show. I was looking for you!

Baker, I thought there was a chance you might be on the Paris show?? Has it played in your time zone yet? Please keep us posted!

And yes, it's looking more and more like YOUR guess is correct! ;-)

Suki;
Pooh!!! They never showed us; my husband was saying, "10 months we've been waiting for this and we don't make it". Oh well, at least WE know we were there.

To answer your question this is what we saw: We were standing in the Place de la Concorde just watching the world go by and all of a sudden we noticed these 3 young guys run by, followed by people with cameras, mikes, clipboards, etc. I pointed out that they were all wearing the same backpacks with little US flags on them. Then they stopped and used a laptop. Our first thought was "Amazing race" with a new twist. As we continued on our walk I stopped to watch what they were doing and Charles approached me and asked if I was from Paris or knew the area well. They were looking at their map (you saw that on TV). I told them I was Canadian but knew the area very well. They needed a bridge trimmed in gold and the statue of a man who would be considered a friend to Americans. They said they were completely lost; had no idea where they were and could I help. I put their map right way around and pointed out the Pont Alexandre and told them there were statues there. They took off across the street, which is no easy feat with about 8 lanes of zooming traffic. We followed and saw them find their clue at the statue of Lafayette. That part was filmed about 3 times; they had to keep running up looking surprised. They were then filmed running across the bridge to the Left Bank.

We never saw any of the other teams although my husband joked we should stay in the area and offer to show teams where their next clue was. Of course we also didn't know which teams or how many teams had already been.

When we signed the release papers I asked what the show would be called but the name had not yet been firmed up but the show would be on NBC.

So there went our moment of glory. Ah well; but it still was fun!! And a great story to tell when we got home.

Bayougal; thanks for looking for me...we looked hard too. It was on from 9-10 here (we're in Canada between Toronto and Niagara Falls). We kept thinking OK...NOW...Now...then ah phooey. When they found the clue at the statue we were about 20 feet away standing with the large camera crew there ..about 25 people.

When they looked at their map earlier in that segment i was just to the side..

...but I guess you'll have to take my word for it.

You're right; just mere steps. Our word were a little stronger than "dang!" but this IS a family-type web site so dang and phooey will have to do
...or maybe, as you could say in French,...merde!

I was looking for you too Baker and was disappointed when I didn't see you. But I think someone pointed out that you don't ever see the teams interacting with other people-asking directions, etc. like you do on AR. Well, I was still disappointed.

As much as I disliked the Fogal girl, it was kind of sad to see them go. She behaved so much better last night and they were really good sports when they lost.

Air Force made by the skin of their teeth. They need to get their "groove" back. I read in the bios that they all met at the Air Force Academy and Matt R. and Brooke are married (to each other) and have two children.

Two of the people on Air Force are married to each other?? Wow, I would never have guessed. I suppose that illustrates that NBC is not going for the interpersonal relationship dynamic that AR does. I kind of miss it actually.

Baker, thanks for filling me in. The way the show was edited it looked like Air Force was in the park at the same time as the Geniuses.

I don't know these teams like I got to know the people on AR.

To JohnH..if you go to the web sites for TH there's one where you can play a short video about the most recent episode.

There were no other teams in sight when we saw the Geniuses. Husband agreed with me that what you see on TV was how it was except that they obviously film way more than they use and they did film their arrival at Lafayette's statue at least 3 times, telling them to point as they run up to it.

Another thing they don't run with all their baggage and artifacts because all they had was a small satchel type of backpack each and their map and laptop. When I saw them cracking open something I thought it was a helmet of some type but of course it was the deathmask.

Now they have 5 of the 7 clues, don't they? Who wants to bet they head back to the States? Isn't there a Lafayette Park in DC? Or is it in NYC?C'mon you Americans help me out here.

I personally find the locations pretty dull. All the previous sites were in the USA, then they go to Paris and London. How adventurous. With only two episodes left I doubt they will go anyplace interesting.
At least the Amazing Race is an around the world race (with the exception of the very dull AR8 family edition). The clues on TH are slightly more difficult to solve. Also, I find the endless product placement to be annoying on both TH and AR.

I know, the product placement is about as bad as in sports (like a McDonald's Game Break).
