TRAVELLING TO LAKE LOUISE CANADA--ANY EXPERIENCE/SUGGESTIONS?
My fiance' and I are considering travelling to Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada on our honeymoon during the first week of November. Anyone ever been there? Accomodations suggestions? (The travel agent is suggesting the Chateau Lake Louise) Other travel tips for that area? Must see places?

My husband and I honeymooned at Lake Louise in 1992.
Chateau Lake Louise is the place to stay. We told
them it was our honeymoon and we received Room 659 -
a huge suite centered over the lake with spectacular views! We didn't want to leave! Once there, try
nachos and dancing in the hotel club. Our favorite eating place outside the hotel was called the Train Station. The food was terrific and the prices much lower than the hotels.
Take the hike up to the Tea House and farther if weather permits. We hit a snow storm in September so count on cold weather by November. It may be too
cold for a canoe ride on the Lake but we had fun.
Congratulations!

Lake Louise, and the Canadian Rockies in general, is spectaChateau Lake Louise hotel - it is HUGE and very, very busy. We stayed at the Post Hotel which is small hotel nearby. We were there 3 years ago and it was quite expensive, but just beautiful and much more quiet. It has a wonderful restaraunt and also small cabins on the property which looked very, very romantic. Ask your travel agent about it. The hike to the teahouse was lovely - we were there in July and there was snow at the top, so be prepared for cold.

We just returned from the Canadian Rockies.
We suggest considering the Emerald Lake Lodge.
Terrific rooms all w/ fireplaces. World class
dining. Beautiful lake. Very romantic.
Must see Moraine Lake near Lake Louise; it is
absolutely beautiful. Have a great time.

Kelly: The Chateau Lake Louise would be a perfect place for a honeymoon. We hiked up to the teahouse and the experience was wonderful; just take your time as the trail is full of switchbacks. Next time I'd take the Plain of Six Glaciers hike. Try the Walliser Stube for dinner; the service is outstanding and the wine list is in a 3-ring binder. Moraine Lake also has some nice hiking trails and the lodge there has a nice restaurant; rent a canoe and paddle across a lake of liquid turquoise.
