Traveling from Atlanta to Phila, avoiding Maryland and DC

We will be driving from Atlanta to Philadelphia with CCW, so need to stay out of Maryland and DC. How do we do that?

Are you allowed to go through West VA (toward Morgantown) and then into PA and travel east to Philadelphia?

Good luck. That's so far out of the way. Unless there is a ferry from Virginia to Delaware.

1) Go northeast on I-85.
2) Go north on I-77 at Charlotte NC.

3a) If you're willing to drive for ten miles in Maryland, then go northeast on I-81, thru VA, WVA, MD, and PA to Harrisburg.
4a) At Harrisburg, take the PA Turnpike into Philadelphia.

3b) If ten miles of Maryland is too much for you, take I-64 northwest to Charleston WVA
4b) Take I-79 north into western PA
5b) Take the PA Turnpike into Philadelphia.

I should mention that there are a LOT of reasons not to drive through Washington DC on your way to my home area of Philly, and concern about your CCW is about the LEAST of the reasons to avoid DC. Traffic there is some of the worst in the country, and I've driven all over the USA.
