Travel to West Coast
Hi,
I want to travel to LA with my family ( wife, Kids ages 11 and 16)
and visit:
LA
Las Vegas
Death Valley National Park
Grand Canyon
Yosemite National Park
Lake Tahoe
San Francisco
return to LA
I want to pick a car in LA airport and spent no more than 15 days.
Is that enough ?
Can you please sugest me the best itinerary.
How many hours driving between those places?
I want to visit all this places but not, "i depht", just in a brief way.
Best Regards
Rui

Hello, i think 2 weeks would be very tight for so much places, i would stick to LA, Yosemite (you can spend a whole week just there) San Francisco- driving along the coast. if you need ideas for what to do in each place or good maps try www.tripcart.com - it has some good guides for the california area
have a great time

When I'm planning a trip such as this I find the new format at www.maps.yahoo.com to be very helpful.
At the moment you have a zig-zag itinerary that could be much improved by spicing it up with Zion NP (and, perhaps Bryce NP) and by not going to Lake Tahoe.

Even if you just drive by each location, that's an awful lot of territory to cover in 2 weeks. You will be mostly in the car. I would get a map and figure out the distances and time required (10 hrs San Francisco to LA for example).

I think this is good and possible:
LA to SF via Highway 1
Yosemite NP
Death Valley NP
Las Vegas
Grand Canyon NP
LA
It is 276 miles to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas and 490 to LA from the Grand Canyon. This is a lot of driving, but it is worth it, and you are young.
