Travel Talk Greatest Hits

I'm looking to assemble the best of the forums -- threads that are especially informative, insightful, or plain funny. Goal is to make sure that the best material generated by our community (and there's lots of it) will be easier to browse, and won't scroll off into the ether....

Post your nominations here, or feel free to send them to me.

She has been gone awhile, but anything authored by Elvira is worth a read.

I had to search back, but jnn1964 posted a trip report to the grand canyon/vegas on 6/21/2003. I am pretty sure that was the date. It was a funny trip report.

Some ideas...

Molvania spoof, Scarlett's Trip to Hell, Tipping the Pilot and some that Muffin started...all funny..

Crazymina should also go into the Hall of Fame. She's posted some good, interesting travel reports as is Marilyn's current England one...

oh and Thingorjus' Turkey reports could easily become classics, IMO!

Not particularly well written, but there are quite a few old Portland/Oregon Coast threads that are quite entertaining

There was a long-running thread on Most Beautiful College Campuses that sparked the interest of a few hundred people.

Gardylou's train trip story in Europe, under the heading "The Kindness of Stangers." That has to be one of the all-time best posts.

Under the "informative" category, all of Neal Sanders' posts; they all begin with "One Traveler's Opinionquot; and then the travel topic.

I agree with Luvmaine that most of Neal Sanders' posts would be in any greatest hits package. My favourite is the Tijuana one, http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...=1&tid=1071467

Daniel Williams has posted (both pre- and post-registration) some great trip reports with detailed info about the cities he has visited, often by alternate transportation, such as taking a bus from Baltimore to Pittsburgh.

Someone else did a lenghty "off the beaten path" report on NYC & its boroughs. I'll have to check on the author's name.

I Was Drunk The Day My Mother Got Out of Prison is hysterical.

Marilyn has it saved, has Fodors deleted the thread?

I think the Tipping The Pilot thread is still on the Europe Board.
