travel/ light gym shoes

I like to excerise when I travel, but gym shoes are bulky & heavy. Does anyone have any suggestions about alternatives (flip flops/sandles don't work for running).

Thanks!

Buy a cheap pair and donate them to housekeeping when you leave?

Or, wear your running shoes while traveling.

Hi arzy, I would be careful about a cheap pair of running shoes. I packed an inexpensive pair once when I went to Portland, OR. After running two days in a row I had a terrible pain in my legs, the doctor called it shin splints or something like that. She said it was due to the shoes I wore. If you don't want to pack your shoes that you use at home when you run I too would wear them when you take your fiight.

I always wear my bulkiest shoes on the flight so I don't have to pack them.

I usually wear my running shoes on the plane (Brooks or AirNike) these days. I have never found an adequate substitute shoe and am always sorry when I don't bring them on a trip.
