Senior Citizens (are they still called that) have a very different perspective on the events of the past month. They aren't worried about the economy since they aren't working, they don't have young children to raise, they aren't sitting in skyscrapers, aren't taking public transportation on a daily basis, aren't worried about having to fight this war, and frankly haven't much to lose since they have already lived their lives, chronologically at least. The average age of the U.S. population is under 35 and it is these people who in general are feeling it the most. Seniors only account for about 20% of the population and from my personal reading are totally out of sync with the general population regarding this issue.

P.S.: I agree that Fran is an idiot!

xxx, I have to respond to your post.

There is probably no generation in America as patriotic as those dear heroes of The Greatest Generation.

Senior citizens are not "out of sync" with the rest of the population about this. They are as worried about the future of our country as anyone -- perhaps even more so.

They've faced extreme hardship before --the Depression, WWII, polio scares, the Cold War -- and they thought their sacrifices had made the world a safer place for generations of Americans to come.

If people were not glued to the TV all the time things would be pretty normal. Just observing day to day life since the attack one would assume that things are back to normal. All things America are going on, both the good and bad since 9/11/01. The media scares everyone to think that they will be picked out of 270 million to receive the chemical attack or bomb, chances are very small!
