Transportation MIA airport to downtown
Quick question if I may as I have been unable to find a clear and non-conflicting answer on the web. We (2 persons) will be arriving at Miami Int'l airport in the early evening later this month, and are going to the Intercontinental hotel by Bayfront park (downtown).
1- We will likely want to take a taxi: is there a flat rate in effect for this run? (or is it metered?) What would be the approx cost? (My understanding is that the shuttle service for 2 persons would run more expensive than a cab)
2- Is Uber a reasonable or advisable option? (I know this is sometimes an issue in certain cities, but am unsure about Miami)
3- While I am at it, how safe would be the area in that part of downtown for walking around, day time and also to/from restaurants in evening for example? (I seem to read that things have improved these last few years from the safety standpoint) Any specific areas to avoid?
This will be our first time back in Miami since over 30 years. Thanks in advance!

Uber is a great option atMIA and the seaport. There is lots of pedestrian activity in the Bayfront area. Just take any big city precautions and you will be fine. Take in a Miami Heat game if it coincides with your schedule

Here is THE answer. Note the warning about being solicited for supposed "cheap" rides.
But, to each their very own.

I appreciate these responses, thanks so much!
mcheryl - good to hear that Uber would also work, as well as cabs. I have not used them very much in the past so was still a little unsure. Also relieved to hear that there is a lot of pedestrian traffic in the hotel area - this is great news! We are quite seasoned travellers, and we will be sure to be aware of our surroundings.
Dukey1 - thanks for the link! I normally shy away when being solicited for rides/shows/restaurants etc. but thanks for the reminder in any case as it is good advice. Am I reading the fare chart correctly? It seems to say that there is a $27 flat rate from the airport to Seaport/Cruise ships, but for downtown hotels the $21.70 fare indicated would seem to be an expected metered amount with airport surcharge/tolls, correct? Not sure I am reading this right.
