Town of Carefree, AZ?

Does anyone know where the town of Carefree is , distancewise, in relation to Scottsdale and Phoenix?

I'm looking for lodging in the area and came across a place in Carefree that looks really nice, but I can't find out the distance from Scotts and Phx. Googling didn't help.
I'd like to be within easy driving distance of Scottsdale, and the PHX airport for the last day.

TIA

I didn't think of that. I'll give it a try.

This place in Carefree turned up in my "Scottsdale Lodging" search so I assume it's fairly close, but I didn't see the town on a map of AZ that came up on an AZ tourism site.

Hi Panecott, I do as friends moved there some years ago. It is just north of Phoenix. Here is a map, the small red dot shows where Cave Creek is located.

Carefree is adjacent to Scottsdale. It is however, about 30 minutes at least from downtown Scottsdale

Thanks for the replies, everyone, and for the link too, LoveItaly. After seeing that map, now I'm thinking a visit to the Petrified Forest might be a possibility on my way back to Scottsdale from the GC. I was there as a kid when we drove cross country and visited so many National Parks along the way.

I checked out the reviews of the hotel I was looking at in Carefree and they were mixed, so I think I'll chuck that idea and just find someplace closer to Scottsdale.

It's the next town north of Scottsdale, but you have to drive a fairly jammed surface street (North Scottsdale Rd) for about 10 miles to get there. Once you hit the 101 freeway it's easy.

Mapquest says 36 miles, 45 minutes to Sky Harbor airport, using North Scottsdale Rd, then the 101 freeway to 202 freeway. Both of these freeways are jammed weekdays during rush hour so maybe add 15 minutes if driving during that time.

Carefree and Cave Creek are both very nice places to vacation in, kind of what north Scottsdale was 20 years ago before it got so built up. Go for it. Also one of the best restaurants in Arizona is in nearby Cave Creek, Binkley's. Expensive but if you are a foodie it's worth checking out.

It is about a half an hour outside of town. Not sure how Carefree is doing. I believe it was one of the PHX-area favorites for new construction & their bubble kind of burst. Not sure how, or if, other things have been effected.
