Toddler friendly area around Miami

We are going to be in Hollywood for a couple days in May with our two year old and then would like to visit another spot. Any suggestions for an area that our little one would enjoy with good places for walking and a safe beach. Thanks

Personally, Hollywood Beach right at Azalea Terrace (go to the flowered streets) is the prettiest beach in South Florida.

Your two year old will not care where they are and one beach will be as good as another as long as you have plenty of beach chairs.

The Hollywood Broadwalk (not boardwalk) is a wonderful place to stroll and walk around and it runs along the ocean for 2 1/2 miles.

I'm not that familiar with things to do in the Hollywood area, but I'm from Miami & about 30 minutes south of Hollywood in Miami Beach is "Parrot Jungle & Gardens" and the "Miami Children's Museum."

We also have on Key Biscayne (about 5 more minutes more south than the other 2 places on Miami Beach) the "Miami Seaquarium" (it's old but nice & you can easily use up about 2-3 hours there). http://www.miamiseaquarium.com/

Also, we have the "Miami Museum of Science & Planetarium" (this is right off the exit for Key Biscayne & the Miami Seaquarium -- they have really cool exhibits for kids. http://www.miamisci.org/

If I had to choose for my 2 year old, I'd probably go to Parrot Jungle & Miami Children's Museum. And the best part is that they are directly across from each other (you can't walk from one to the other because it's divided by a highway), but they are facing each other, so you don't have to go far if you want to do a few hours at one spot & then a few hours at another.

If I think of anything in Hollywood, I'll post it.

Have fun!

Most of parrot jungle is open-air (not under roof or a/c)...so if it's raining & you want to do something indoors, go to the Miami Children's Museum --- my neighbor had her 2 year olds birthday party there and she said it was great fun (even for the little ones).
Also, I just remembered (check the age appropriateness), but at Sawgrass Mills Mall (a huge outlet mall, which is about 20 minutes West of you) is a place called Wannado City. It's supposed to be alot of fun for kids. And in the same mall is Rainforest Cafe (which kids love to eat at).

One last thing about parrot jungle. it's a bit pricey (but really worth it), so you might want to plan your day to be there as much as possible to get the most for your money.
