To live in La Jolla
Hi everybody, We are young couple and will be relocating in San Diego.We are thinking to live in La Jolla and we heard it is beautiful and expensive.Do you think it worth to live there and if anyone could describe the area? My last question is;
What would be the average rent for one bed room apartment with balcony and swimming pool in La Jolla?
Lots of thanks for your concern.

Most of the apartments in La Jolla are condos or very high priced complexes located on the other side of the freeway in a new part of LaJolla. That's not the charming village that you have heard about. Homes in the downtown area or over by UCSD probably are as pricey

Meric, get on the internet and do some research for goodness sakes!!! You're the one thinking about living in La Jolla, not us. Look, I live in DC ... what if I asked you if it makes sense for me to stay here. Or to go somewhere else. Is it just me and Monday (actually, it could be

If you are a 'young couple' and you're looking to live in the better parts of La Jolla I think you'll be disappointed unless you have at least $25,000 a year to spend on rent. If you have lots of disposable cash, you may find what you want. You'll be surrounded by a much older population of neighbors.
If you're looking for value, your dollars will go MUCH farther elsewhere.
Parts of La Jolla are great, but the better parts are small areas, properties packed tightly together.
Do your research before you go in that direction

I think you'd probably be happier looking in the Pacific Beach (PB) area of town. A much younger crowd, and while not inexpensive, the rents are definitely lower than La Jolla. The real estate is older and not glamourous in Pacific Beach, but you're close to everything and can easily park your car on the weekend and just enjoy beach life.
