TKTS for 42nd Street on Broadway?

Are tickets normally available for 42nd Street at the TKTS booth? I'd be looking at a Tuesday or Thursday in June. Thanks.

There is a chance on Tuesdays. That's one of the slowest theater nights. Much less likely, though possible, on Thursdays.

They normally are, but keep in mind that USUALLY - not always - the tickets at TKTS are half price tickets for the more expensive seats. You might want to try playbill.com or dealsonbroadway.com or check the visitors center when you arrive.

when i went to TKTS i got 42nd st at 25% off. it still was not all the cheap and in fact not worth it. at 50%, i'd say it's a good deal. To check what's at TKTS, see newyork.citysearch.com/feature/34843/

To a hick from Iowa, seats to 42nd Street are probably not worth $50, but to a real theatre goer who appreciates quality, they are worth the $85 top price for really good seats.

Just saw the show in late March and got half off tickets for a Thurs. at the tkts booth on Broadway. You should be able to also get tickets at the tkts booth at the Bowling Green Subway station exit next to the American Indian Museum. We found that the lines were much shorter there if you are willing to travel the distance. We enjoyed the show which we had first seen in the 80's. The dancing was great, costumes very interesting, and Christine Ebersole very enjoyable.

How many hours in advance did you go and get the tickets? Did you pick them up 2 hours before the show and then just wander over?

The TKTS booths at Times Square open at 10 a.m. for matinees and 3 p.m. for evening performances. However, you are advised to get there maybe an hour before it opens to have a shorter line and greater choice of shows.
