Tired and Fustrated!!

I am so tired! Here is my story in a nutshell, I left a job because the company folded. I started a new job and worked their for about 3 months and a better job (more pay, closer to home)I start w/them on Monday, the only problem is I now have to build up vacation time w/them and I have not had a vacation since practically last year. I don't want to take the time off for a new job, especially with the job market the way it is (SLOW) We were planning to go to the Hilton Head but now finances are low. I need to get away somewhere or I'll go crazy, has anyone been in this situation before?

Yes. Tell your new employer that you booked this trip before you took the job with them. Let them know that you don't expect to be paid for the time off.

Get off the computer and hit the road. It's Tuesday and you don't start until Monday, so you can easily fit in a 4 day getaway. You don't mention where you live, but I'm sure there's something in your area that you would enjoy. Camping, city life, etc???

Stop complaining and get out there and enjoy yourself!

Congratulations on landing the new job.

Been there and still doing that! We had 2 vacations planned and 1/2 paid for 7/01 and 10/01. Hubby was laid off 4/01, got another job a month later but couldn't take the summer vacation. His company went chapter 11 on 9/10/01, we still planned the 10/01 trip then couldn't because he found another new job. Had a quick trip planned for late 2/02 but a round of layoffs scared us and we didn't book, tried again for 5/02 but ANOTHER round of layoffs in 4/02 scared us again. Now.....we are trying to decide what to do about 2/03. MORE layoffs are expected by 12/02 but....we are now wondering if we should say screw it and just go! We are starting to think about quality of life and LIVING life instead of living in fear of layoffs every quarter. LMAO, I feel your pain and frustration!

You probably should have brought this up before you took the job, I've know lots of people who were able to take a planned vacation. If they say no, why not go over a company holiday for a fun 3 day weekend. Congrats on the job
