HI! We are two uni students travelling to Canada/USA
during Dec and Jan. We would love to hear about any
great places to stay that are cheap but decent, and any spots to visit that are not too `touristy'. We are going to San Fran, Chicago, Niagara Falls, Montreal, Boston, NYC, Washington D.C, and New Orleans amoung other places. We would appreciate ANY tips you may be able to give. Thanks.

Kansas City will give you a true depiction of central USA. With Bar-B-Q, jazz, and reasonable prices, I highly recommend it. I lived in Australia for 5 years (1964-1969) and would love to have contact with anyone from that country.

Come on up to WA state and visit our area the Pugent Sound. It will be our monsoon season but it's the most beautiful place you'll ever want to see. We live in Gig Harbor, (a good starting point.) If you like big cities then you can hop a ferry and cruise
on over,(from Bremerton it takes an hour.) Friendly
people and lots of places that don't cost an arm and
a leg. Check it out. Later Anton

You might think about visiting Virginia.There is an awfully lot of history here .Williamsburg would only be a couple of hours south of Washinton,DC as well as Yorktown, Jamestown and several southern River Plantations right in the same area. Busch Gardens (the theme park and the brewery) are also there when you get tired of the historical tours. Anyway, Welcome and I hope Y'all will enjoy your visit!

What a neat trip! I'm jealous... While in the San Fran area, head down to Santa Cruz or Monterey. The food in the area is generally excellent. My favorite restaurant is a little Ethiopian place in Berkeley called Ethiopia Restaurant--it's cheap and VERY un-touristy. (As a poor college student, I can't recommend any of the ritzier restaurants, because I've never tried them!)
