Tips for living in Hawaii??

Y'all,
If anyone's lucky enough to have lived in Hawaii, we need your help!!
We're planning to move to Hawaii next year; if there's anything we should know or fun to know, please write to your future neighbor to the e-mail address above. Thanx a bunch!!

I am not trying to discourage you but living in Hawaii is VERY expensive. Jobs are hard to come by unless you already have one. Pets have a hard time too, more flea problems here. Animal quarantine however is only one month now it used to be 4. But all the islands are beautiful, except Honolulu which is like any other big city really. The weather is great (usually), no snow. Food & Electricity are much more than in the mainland also. But I am sure you will be glad you moved anyhow once you do! Aloha.

Aloha and welcome to the islands. I would love to help you out- just give me some specifics. It is more expensive to live here but in my opinion is well worth it. Where are you moving from? What island are you moving to?

I lived in Hawaii for approximately 11 1/2 months and loved every minute of it. Everything is more expensive but I think it is worth it. I lived in Aiea. Honolulu is a beautiful city. If you can get a copy of Beamer Brothers music with the song Honolulu City Lights, it is just as beautiful and majical as the song. Some of the most wonderful places to visit are the Pali Lookout(where I was married!), Polynesian Cultural Center, the Arizona Memorial (don't go if your husband is going out to sea soon!) and Herashio's Steak and Seafood (Great Prime Rib and Strawberry Daquri's!) Also for a fun atmosphere Elephant and Castle or the Crows Nest is fun!

Gawd!!! I hope you settle FAR, FAR away from all of those above tourist-sites. Anywhere on the North Shore would be nice. It's only about 10-miles or so away from all that Waikiki schlock...but it's 10-miles thru the mountains, and it seems like a million miles away. Another tip: Donate all of your flannel shirts, down jackets and trench-coats to Goodwill before you move from the mainland. You won't need them.
