For eigasuki; as the owner of a B&B I would say that most owners do not expect $$ tips but nice gestures are always appreciated. Leaving some dollar bills on the table after breakfast is not the way to go. We have housekeeping staff at my B&B and any monies left as tips get distributed to them. We do have tip envelopes in the rooms for the housekeepers.

Thanks Thomas. That's kind of the wa I thought it would be - seems the staff at a B&B would be in a similar position a staff at a hotel. It's a very different mind set for us, it's not that we mean to be 'cheap'.

I recently stayed at a resort in Park City Utah (The Canyons). I left $10 for 4 days. But when I got my bill and reviewed I noticed a $3.50 daily 'gratuity' fee. Apparently they direct bill the 'tip' for the maids. I've never seen this before, anyone else had this?
