Do a search in the archives here on timeshares. Interesting commentary.
Some people love timeshares and it's certainly a free country. Everyone should follow his or her own tastes. But if you're leaning toward timeshares because you think they're cost effective, think again. They're not when you factor in the time value of money.
But if you simply like the notion of timeshares, have at 'em and trade away.

II stands for Interval International, (II). II is the main competitor to RCI. They are exchange companies for timeshare properties.
I own with II since 98', my wife and I have already been to Hawaii, The Bahamas, Aruba, Spain, and we are going to Switerland in September.

The best place to find out about timeshares is WWW.TUG2.NET (Timeshare Users Group)a BBS about, for and by timeshare owners around the world. They have sections on buying, selling, renting, exchanging, how to, how not to, what to watch out for and sections on various areas of the country and world where you can ask questions about where you plan on going i.e...where to eat, what to do, when to go. Also, by joining, you would have access to the reviews that are done by those of us that have gone to resorts. At least check out the site.

Paul, I think it depends on which exchange company the resort belongs to. We had one that was both RCI & II, but our other 2 were RCI only, so we put all 3 in RCI. II says it has better timeshares, but not as many as RCI. I hope you are considering buying resale instead of from the developer. You will save over half.
