I would suggest 3 places in and around Times Square. Cafe Un Deux Trois, Ruby Foo and Carmines. They're all fun for the family and in the mid price range. You can check them out and see others at www.zagat.com which gives you info on all NY restaurants. Have fun!

Another, more casual, suggestion is John's Pizza which has GREAT brick oven pizza in a great setting (it's in a renovated/converted church... high ceilings and original stained glass).

Hi Rob,

All the restaurants the above people have listed are great, especially for families. My only concern would be getting reservations. If I'm not mistaken Carmines doesn't take reservations unless you have an enormous party. John's Pizza was packed last time we tried to go pre-theatre (1 1/2 wait and we arrived at 5:30p). Another place to consider is Robert Emmett's. We ate there after we couldn't get into John's Pizza and were pleasantly suprised by the food. Its your standard american food, nice but not too fancy. They have a website...www.robertemmetts.com and their phone is 212-302-9999. Also, Salt is very good. Less touristy but very good chinese. Good luck!

We've taken our kids to DaMarino many times. Terrific italian. On weekends they have a fab accordian player (never thought I'd like that but he plays a wicked Flight of the Bumblebee). My kids love it. Not cheap, but reasonable for amount of food. Even got to meet Chris Noth (Law & Order) there. It's one of his favorite restaurants.

Ruby Foo is a fun place if your kids enjoy Chinese food. Be sure to order the dessert sampler.
