Ticket reserv. for theme parks in CA
Hello everybody! My boyfriend and I are going on a trip to CA in Sept. I've got everything planned out - thanks to many great tips from you guys.
Now my questions: when we are in LA we want to spent a day each at Disneyland, Universal Studios and Six Flags Magic Mountains. If checked their websites already, at some I could order the tickets, but actually I don't want the tickets send to me (i live in Austria). Should I actually get the tickets in advance - we'll be in LA from the 10th of Sept. till the 16th - and we would make our visits to the parks on tuesd., wes.and thursd.(the best days). Or is it okay do just purchase them directly at the park gate.
Are the others tips you can give me for my visit?
thx a lot for the help.

Buy them in advance to save yourself from the ticket lines.
Most local hotels can sell the tickets. Some may even offer discounts.
Tips for Disneyland. Spend time learning how to use the FastPass and use it for only Thunder Mtn, Autopia, Indiana Jones, and Splash Mountain, most other waits are reasonable.

Just went to all the parks you mentioned this past May. I don't think you'll have to worry much about crowds if you avoid the weekend. All kids will be back in school and it's too early to take a family vacation.
As far as tickets in advance, I think if you wait to buy them at the gate you'll be fine. What we did was get to the park about 45 minutes to an hour before the posted opening time. That will allow you time to park, purchase your ticket and a lot of times get in through the gates (although most attractions won't be open yet).
Also, I would suggest 2 days for Disney, now that they've opened a second theme park; one day per park.

I'd try to get the Disney tickets in advance at your hotel. The ticket lines were plenty long when I went (Tuesday last week), and who needs another line?
Disney has opened a new park (California Adventure), but if this is your first trip to the LA amusement parks, I think I'd skip Cal Adventure and do the parks your're doing unless you can extend your trip. Cal Adventure was OK, but nothing to write home about.
As for Fast Pass, it worked great. Lines were generally pretty short, but it was still worth using Fast Pass to avoid lines completely on the popular stuff.
One more thing. Bring a sweater. It got chilly in July!

I live in Southern CA. and it is not that cool here. It has been in the 80's and 90's most days and our nights do get cooler and into the 60's. Believe me, 80's in hot sun all day is not cool!! We do not have high humidity tho so that helps. They are predciting that it will get hotter next week. You don't want or need it hotter than it is now!! Have a good trip!!
