Things to do + places to stay in Sedona
We're going to Sedona in a few weeks. We've only got one full day and two nights. Can you recommend any hikes or other activities that we can do during the day? We'd love to get your recommendations for accommodation (Holiday Inn-type places) and good eats!
Basically, how can we make the best of our one full day there?
Thank you!

We stayed at the Sky Ranch Lodge, which is a nice motel type place up on a hill near the airport. Very comfortable, with great views. There are lots of hikes - we did the Devil's Bridge hike, which was unforgettable.

First thing, take the Pink Jeep Broken Arrow tour. Very scenic and you will learn a lot about the geology and the flora and fauna of the area. The PJBA tour is by far the most popular. Also visit Red Rock Crossing and the Chapel of the Holy Cross ( a special place even for us non-religious people)
There are dozens of hikes from easy to very difficult. Check this site:

We are not really big into hiking, but enjoyed the Bell Rock/Courthouse Butte Hike and the Boynton Canyon hike. You can get maps from the Ranger Station, on 179 just before you enter the Village of Oak Creek.
Sky Ranch would be a good bet. They have a private vieing area of the red rocks for guests.

I agree with Mike on the Pink Jeep Broken Arrow tour, and the Boynton Canyon hikes.
Crescent Moon Ranch along Oak Creek is also a great area to visit - lovely walk along the creek, more of a walk than a hike, and beautiful views of the red rocks on the road as you approach the entrance.

You would go to the Crescent Moon Picnic area to take the path to Red Rock Crossing. There is a fee to get in, I believe $8 per vehicle. You can also get to Red Rock Crossing by taking the Verde Valley School Road, in the Village of Oak Creek, to the end. You have to park about 1/4 mile from the creek. Once at Red Rock Crossing, you can take the Baldwin trail to and around Cathedral Rock. That is another hike we enjoy.

My trip is in October, but I've done tons of research. West Fork trail is also highly recommended. PJ Broken Arrow tour is a must! Other recs I've gathered for dinner are Dahl & DiLuca and the Silver Saddle at the Cowboy Club. Lunch at Sedona Memories or Indian Gardens.

Lots of ads on here!
There is a new hotel , Amara, that is a Kimpton hotel. They have some great deals going on, check it out. They do have a resort fee of $22.50 a night, so keep that in mind. We are heading there for New Years.

Last time, in March of this year we stayed at the Views Inn in Village of Oak Creek. I liked the price, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable - but not a resort place if that's what you're looking for.
