Things to do in Boulder, CO on the spur of the moment

Just found out that the hotel for DD's skating competition later this week is in Boulder. We plan to go to DAM[Denver Art Museum] but would like to have some ideas for 1-2 hour blocks of time in the Boulder area.

Bundle up and stroll down Pearl Street to check out the interesting shops. It's touristy but fun. There's a decent description on wikipedia. Search for Pearl Street Mall.

You could relax with a cup of tea and a bite to eat at Dushanbe Tea House, which is on 13th street. It's pretty cool. boulderteahouse.com

Try touring NCAR, the I.M. Pei designed lab on a mesa; great self-guided tours, fabuous views, and if the weather is right (sure, it's 10 right now, but a few days ago it was 72!)you can take a little walk on the hiking trails.

Check to see if the University of Colorado men's or women's basketball team are playing any home games. They practically give those tickets away.

Thanks everyone!

DD is an art student, so the I.E. Pei building would interest her.

DH and I are tea drinkers, so the Tea House and Tea Factory might be nice.

If the weather is decent, a drive up to Flagstaff Mt is very nice. Some beautiful views of the contintental divide from the backside. Stop in Chautuqua for lunch.

Drive up Boulder Canyon (Canyon Ave.) into the mountains to hippie town Nederland for lunch or breakfast. Takes about 20 minutes. About 1/2 way there, there's a pulloff for Boulder Falls. Stop and take a look. Beautiful! Also, lots of hikes in the foothills just west of Boulder. Take the Sanitas Valley Trail. Two routes - one very challenging if you're pretty fit - the other through the valley. A great stroll and very beautiful. Then wander back into Boulder for lunch on Pearl Street. Have fun! Boulder is awesome!
